Cookie Policy

1. What is a cookie?

A cookie is a small text file that a website places on your device through your browser. Cookies let a site remember you, store your preferences, and measure usage.

2. Which cookies do we use?

cardwho.com uses two cookie categories: strictly necessary (always on) and analytics (only if you accept).

Strictly necessary

  • cw_lang — remembers your language preference. When you pick a language from the top menu, a first-party cookie valid for 1 year is written. Without this cookie, the site would loop the automatic language redirect on every visit; it is functionally required.
  • cw_consent — stores your cookie preference (accept/reject), first-party cookie valid for 1 year. Without this cookie the consent banner would reappear on every visit.

Analytics (consent-only)

  • Google Analytics 4 — measures anonymous statistics such as page views, session duration and overall traffic sources. IP is anonymised, advertising and ad-personalisation features are off. Provider: Google Ireland Ltd. Preferred data retention: 14 months. Denied by default (Consent Mode v2 default-deny); cookies and measurement only fire after you click "Accept" in the banner or on the cookie preferences page.

You can change your preference any time on the cookie preferences page.

3. Third-party services

Cloudflare CDN and security

The site is served through Cloudflare. Cloudflare may set short-lived security cookies (such as __cf_bm) for bot protection, DDoS prevention, and performance. These cookies are not used to identify you personally; they are used for attack detection.

Cloudflare Turnstile (spam protection)

The contact form uses Cloudflare Turnstile for spam protection. Turnstile sets no or minimal cookies and is designed to be privacy-friendly, unlike traditional reCAPTCHA.

4. How can you control cookies?

All modern browsers let you delete or block cookies. You can find the settings here:

  • Safari: Settings → Privacy → Cookies and Website Data
  • Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data
  • Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
  • Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions
  • Opera: Settings → Privacy & security → Site Settings → Cookies and site data
  • ChatGPT Atlas: Settings → Privacy → Cookies and site data

If you block functional cookies, preferences such as language selection may not be remembered, but you can still browse the site.

5. Data inside the mobile app

The CardWho mobile app does not use cookies. For details on data collection, storage, and optional sync inside the app, see the privacy policy.

6. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. When something material changes, we revise the "last updated" date on this page; we also announce significant changes separately.

7. Contact

For questions about this cookie policy, send a "Legal / privacy" message via the contact form.
